Lead Radiographer Appointed

Candice Martin has joined us as our Lead Radiographer. She’ll is leading our private radiotherapy service and will ensure all of our patients receive the highest standard of care and service throughout their treatment – from first day consultations to last treatment day and follow ups, Candice will provide information and advice on every aspect, including symptom relief and skin care. Working alongside our consultants and with the teams at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, she will guarantee that our patients receive the best possible care and treatment.

Candice has worked with the team at Nova Healthcare and The Leeds Gamma Knife Centre for several years in her previous role of Radiotherapy Practitioner Radiographer in the Leeds Cancer Centre at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and we are very excited to work with her to realise her vision for our private radiotherapy service.

At Nova Healthcare our unique collaboration with Leeds Cancer Centre means that we have access to the very latest technology and are able to offer our patients treatment using advanced radiotherapy techniques, which ensure that the tumour is treated, whilst healthy surrounding tissue is spared.

Advanced radiotherapy techniques include:
• Intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT): a form of radiotherapy which shapes the beams and allows different doses of radiotherapy to be given to different parts of the treatment area. This is often used to treat cancers that are located close to important organs or structures
• Image guided radiotherapy (IGRT): a precise form of radiotherapy which uses images, taken just before treatment, to inform the treatment area, ensuring it is focused on the tumour
• Stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy (SABR): an advanced radiotherapy technique which delivers an ablative and precise dose of radiation to the tumour, over a small number of outpatient treatment sessions
