Biography

Dr Paul Hatfield read medicine at the University of Birmingham and completed his training in the West Midlands, New Zealand and Dorset.

He joined Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust in 2000 as a Specialist Registrar and gained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists in 2003. He then went on to complete a PhD in cancer immunotherapy at the Clinical Research Facility in St. James’s Hospital, Leeds.

Dr Hatfield was appointed Consultant Clinical Oncologist at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in 2007. As a part of this role he supports both Bradford Royal Infirmary and Airedale NHS Trusts in the management of upper and lower gastrointestinal cancer. He also specialises in neuro-oncology and is the lead clinician for the Neurosciences Multi-Disciplinary Team in Leeds and for the Gamma Knife Radiosurgery Service.

Dr Hatfield has published a range of scientific papers, on-line learning modules and book chapters in the fields of gastrointestinal and neuro-oncology and is principal investigator and co-investigator for several clinical trials.

He is also actively involved in policy development and represents the Royal College of Radiologists on the National Brain Tumour Clinical Reference Group, which works to advise NHS England on the clinical management of brain tumours.
