Dr Kevin Franks completed his oncology training in the Yorkshire Cancer Network and was appointed consultant at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust in 2009.

Prior to his appointment, Dr Franks undertook a two-year research fellowship in technical radiotherapy and Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy at the internationally renowned Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, Canada.

Dr Franks is the Clinical Lead for Lung Cancer and Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy at Leeds Cancer Centre. He retains a research interest in technical radiotherapy and radiotherapy informatics and is principal investigator and co-investigator for a number of ongoing clinical trials in these areas.

He was a founding member of the UK Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy Consortium and currently sits on the Executive. He is also a member of the National Cancer Research Institute Clinical and Translational Radiotherapy Research Working Group.
